Alternate Methods of Calling From Your Computer

There are ways to do it without installing any software...

Jajah
CANCELLED!
Unfortunately, from January 2014, Jajah stopped offering their free service. www.Jajah.com: Jajah allowed you to use your existing phone and connection to place calls.

Jajah also allows you to make Facebook calls. It's a new feature of the JAJAH app, available in the United States and Canada. You can call any Facebook friend, even if they are not a JAJAH member. To call a Facebook friend, you simply open the application, click on the Facebook tab to see which of your friends are online, and then simply click the friend you want to call. The coolest thing about it is that it is free!

Nonoh

  2. Type in your friend's phone number
  3. Click "CALL"
  4. Your phone will ring -
  5. pick up -
  6. start talking!
Nonoh also offers free downloadable software for VoIP telephony.

Google Voice
https://www.google.com/voice : Google Voice is Google's entry into the VoIP market. It is only available in the USA at this writing.

Line 2 by Toktumi
Toktumi: Line 2 provides a VoIP phone line for some $15 per month that is Internet accessible, even from an iPhone. If all you need is a second phone line, most phone companies offer a second phone number (and phone) for about $10 per month. Toktumi's services go way beyond those of a simple telephone. For US users, AT&T blocks calls made from iPhones over their networks in accordance with a deal they made with Apple.
